He coughed again. It was dawn.
It has been ages since he was bed ridden. His world was confined to that small corner of the house, in that weak frame of bed.
“Bye Joan”, she said over her shoulder while stepping out of the house.
Joan gazed at her. The memories of the accident that pushed him in this state popped up into his mind. That was the end of all the good days of their life. She had started working for the livelihoods.
He saw her walking through the courtyard, holding her bag tight to her. She looked back at him and smiled while crossing the gate.
The lonely hours of the long day filled his mind with the thoughts of his wife. She loved him, but he felt it was diminishing day by day. She was working in Arizona mall; that was all what he knew.
She never hid anything from him, but now… ‘She is hiding something from me’, Joan felt bad.
***************************
Joan pushed the wheels of his wheelchair fast.
His body was weak, but he wanted to find out the truth about his wife. He didn’t want to get cheated by his wife.
He could see the sight of Arizona mall from the street. He turned his wheelchair towards it.
*****************************
He gazed at each and every faces at the mall, but none seemed familiar.
“Sir, may I help you?”
“No, I was just searching for someone, my wife”, Joan tried to smile at the employee while asking him about his wife.
“I am sorry Sir, we don’t have an employee named so”
Joan was shocked. ‘She was cheating on me. I was right’, he gasped, his eyes red, suffering to hold his breath.
His eyes were swollen, blowing revenge. He couldn’t move a bit, he was frozen. ‘She doesn’t deserve a handicapped person like me, but she shouldn’t have cheated’, few drops of tears escaped from his eye.
‘She is a cheater’, Joan tried to control his rage, the fury of being cheated.
“Excuse me sir”, he looked at the sweeper behind him. He was taken aback by that voice.
The beautiful face in the blue uniform was very familiar to him.
